Friendly staff, nice ambience. However, my tarte flambée was very tough. Not exactly my taste. However, an interesting, large selection of tarte flambée, some of which have an unusual topping!

Recommendation for everyone who likes tarte flambée. The restaurant is very rustic inside and exudes a rustic flair thanks to the fireplace in the middle. There are tarte flambée here with all kinds of creative toppings. In terms of taste, I have never had such good tarte flambée in Germany. The service is quick and friendly.

Positive: Very nice atmosphere, especially around the fire. Service very nice! Criticism: - In the Corona period with almost 15,000 cases per day, the waiters constantly pull their masks down when they are behind the counter. - In the toilet, the lights are controlled by motion sensors. After 10 seconds I was completely in the dark? And to the statement "have you ever worked 8 hours straight with a mask?" I am a medical doctor and work 24 hours a day - you area with FFP3 mask, not once would I or have I seen nurses who have prepared or brought the food or drinks of patients work without a mask. You prepare drinks for customers behind the counter, as I've seen?

The best tarte flambée in Mainz, very large selection with great and always new combinations. Very friendly staff, you always feel very comfortable and welcome.

The food was great, Unfortunately we were greeted with the reservation Already asked if we would like to sit longer, what we wanted and stated this. Even before the main course we were asked again how long we would like to stay and whether further reservations could be made. After the main course we were asked again if we wanted to stay longer and if we would be willing to change tables if we wanted to stay. After dessert, we left promptly. Overall, we were in the restaurant for 2 hours and were satisfied, but you should question the concept, whether you should ask the guests several times how long they want to stay. Not very welcoming. Around us, some tables were unoccupied, which were vacated shortly after our arrival

Very tasty food, very nice service. Always nice there! It would be even nicer and a bit cozier if at least there were a candle or something similar on the tables above which there are no lamps. Otherwise it is unfortunately a bit dark there.

Friendly service. Food was pretty good in general, though I was a bit disappointed by my specific choice of one of their specials. Great garlic bread.

(First visit on recommendation on August 29, 2020) I can understand the enthusiasm of the previous reviewers, everything was consistent - from the service to the range to the quality and the prices! Rest assured: we will be back (and have already recommended the (that?) "Fireplace" ourselves)! Greetings from the "Ebsch Seit´" and until then!

Those who like tarte flambée are definitely right here. Unusual and classic tarte flambée and friendly staff. Located in the old town and therefore good as a stopover for a walk on the Rhine or before partying / drinking.

Fantastic wine, great atmosphere thanks to the oven in the middle of the restaurant. Large selection of dishes, seasonally adjusted (I would only want a spelled base again), fast service, generously topped and thin, crispy base. Gladly again!

Best flammkuchen (almost like a pizza) in Maimz. If you have not tried it before, the safe bet is the classic one, really tasty. Also they offer whine with sparkling water. It tastes like magic during a hot summer day. Also to be sure to get a table call ahead and book it ahead.

Had to change my review after grabbing dinner here yesterday. The Flammkuchen are terrific! Hands down the best in Mainz.... The staff are always friendly.

Overpriced, bad and salty "typisch" flammkuchen.

The Flammkuchen are tasty but a bit pricey and the place is a bit overcrowded and definitely not kid's friendly

A lost opportunity. The ambiance was nice, the hostess was nice. The order was requested as ‘Bitte nicht schneiden‘ because I don’t eat meat. They “accidentally” cut the Flammkuchen anyway and the waitress who brought the wrong order unapologetically pretty much yelled: ‘Oh well, they cut it anyway. Here...’ Of course I didn’t eat and I sit here now to write this unfortunate review. The dessert I will of course not order... I can’t comment on the food I didn’t eat. The starter Baked Potato that I did eat wasn’t anything great anyway. So yea, a 1-star review from me. Nice ambiance and nice hostess without edible food is good for nothing. Oh, by the way, the description on the menu said ‘grilled vegetables’. What I was served didn’t appear to be grilled veggies... Unfortunate, because I wanted to like the food. UPDATE: About 2.5 hours after our reservation (at 17:00 hrs) at Kamin I finally got to eat my last-minute grab-dinner shown in the second photo attached here. RESPONSE TO DANIEL: You seem like a person who feels like he must vehemently defend the restaurant. This leads me to believe you are the owner. A passionate one on that. Here’s a tip, Daniel: When a customer asks for the Flammkuchen not to be cut, please do not cut it. If not cutting isn’t an option, then please train your staff to inform the customer on the spot that that is not an option. In that case a willing customer like me will politely leave instead of bothering you with a request or delaying my Christmas dinner by 2.5 hours and that too sufficing with a fast food chain burger. If you are still not able to understand that on this occasion you did not serve the food as requested, then I would go ahead and advise you to shut down your restaurant before you serve an allergic person a cross-contaminated meal which might end up killing them. To be clear, I am not physically/medically allergic to anything. However, I requested for the Flammkuchen not to be cut for a reason. Whether or not you understand the reason is not important. My request was enough for a seemingly established and reputed restaurant like yours to honour the same. It is not a kebab house after all! At an Imbiss I wouldn’t even make such a request; and I will most certainly not even walk into one. The image of the burger: It was merely symbolic for you anyway so you know that a customer who went to your restaurant for a Christmas dinner ended up eating a burger elsewhere. About the ambiance: Yes, indeed it was very nice and that’s why I really wanted to (eat) and like your food. About the hostess/waitress: The one who greeted us and took our order – nice. The one who served our food and unapologetically yelled at us while serving the wrong order – I’d highly recommend sacking her. She’s not a good face for your place. How could you have made it right? By, at the very least, apologising for serving the wrong order; and ideally by offering the-food-I-didn’t-eat for free. I hope you had a lovely Christmas. UPDATE: The answer to why I didn’t ask for a new uncut Flammkuchen is already hidden away in my original review. I’d say that’s now up to you as the business owner to identify...and maybe fix the issue if you care about your customers. From your responses here as well as to the other critical reviews I can see that you have failed to realize the errors your team and you have made. I’d, therefore, skip your burger. You and I can have a beer at an Irish pub someday and have a laugh at this funny story. Last night though it was everything but funny. The beer’s on me...

The Flammkuchen was really good, although I had to wait 30 mins for it. The cocktail was okay in my opinion, but I'd recommend ordering wine since it's from the region. Great vibes in the restaurant, especially really warm, perfect for winter evenings. Friendly waiters and waitresses.

Super attentive and friendly staff and probably the most delicious Flammkuchen in this area. The Flammkuchen are quiet big, eventhough the pricing is quiet average. If you are visiting weekends you should definitely reserve a table as when we arrived without reservation it was already filling up (~5.30pm) All in all definitely a cosy and nice restaurant to eat in.

When in Mainz, we stay at the convenient Ibis Downtown and eat here, just steps away from the back door of the Ibis. Great food, super service, great wines and everything else a great restaurant, with great food requires. Don't miss this, but one Flammkuchen for two reasonably hungry people is just right.

Yummy and good service

This is by far the best flammkuchen I’ve ever had. My favorite is the French style that comes with pear, honey, cheese and I think walnuts. I’ve tried others here that were also very good but since I’ve had the French style it’s all I’ll ever order from here. Very highly recommend. You can also ask for it to go and take it with you to Nolan’s and grab a pint to wash it down.

We had a table at the window and even if it was crowded, it was not too noisy. Good flammkuchen of course... Good for groups.

By far the best place to chill and munch on Flam. I consider myself a connoisseur, having searched for the best Flam across Europe since 2008. I have found it and it is here. The ladies (forgive me for names) are beautiful, warm, welcoming and just great. My wife and I love everything about this place. and for all my American friends... Don't worry they have english menu!

Definitely, the best place I know to eat Flammkuchen in Mainz. It is not cheap as in the kiosks maybe, but the food worths it, plus the waiters are nice.
